January 2009
Dear Friends of Eastern Europe Renewal: The Peace of the Lord be always with you. This will be a little news and a prayer request for Mary who will have her hysterectomy on Friday, 16 Jan. They found some malignancy after the D&C and the hysterectomy is indicated. They think they can clear everything up without chemo or radio therapy. We are mostly at peace and hopeful about this although it is sort of a big deal and your prayers will be treasured. Thanks. It has been almost a month since I was on a plane. It has been good to be closer to home for a while. I’ve been preaching every Sunday. The work in the Lausanne Church continues to be a joy. Our Church in Basel is settling into its regrouped condition and doing well. The monthly preaching class is my favorite thing to do in the month. I’m preaching through Philippians and so are the students. It is exciting to me. The time in the US was excellent and very worthwhile. The Culture House in Kansas City is a great work and it was thrilling to be involved with them again. We are plotting and planning a time together next year. My brother-in-law in Wyoming turned out to be a pleasant and interesting guy so the visit there was a real pleasure for me. The next big trip will be to Korea, where I will be teaching on Worldviews in a big Church in Seoul and visiting Korean L’Abri. It is 20 years since the last visit and it will be very interesting to see how everything and everyone has changed. Thank you very much for your prayers and financial involvement in our lives and work. God bless and keep you. Love in Jesus, Ellis
