Dear Friends of Eastern Europe Renewal:

The Peace of the Lord be always with you.

Here is a brief update from us. It has been 3 months since we wrote. The last letter came the day before I left for 9 days in Hungary. This was a very full time and busy and exciting. Then I went to England for more than 2 weeks in June, preaching in Churches, teaching a homiletics (preaching) class, being part of L’Abri, giving a lecture on "The Christian Year" and teaching at an Arts Conference in Richmond, London. Since then I haven’t been on a plane for 2 months, which has been good as I was very tired. On 6 Sept. I will take off again for England and 9 days of varia: a UCCF staff forum in Shropshire, giving the first Ryan lecture for Hope Church in Greatham, preaching at Hope the next day, helping in L’Abri with a visiting school of journalism and apologetics from Norway, giving another preaching class and catching up with people.

Mary was able to have 3 weeks of residential therapy in a clinic near here. This was very beneficial and she is doing much better. We have reorganized life with a wheelchair, which I operate as a back seat driver when we go out. I’ve organized a lot of food that Mary can prepare herself while I’m in England. Being home alone should be a better experience for her than the last time.

In the Lausanne Church and in Basel I’ve been preaching through the Sermon on the Mount, which has been a great project for me. Last Sunday we started Chapter 6 of Matthew. It might take 2 years to get through the whole sermon.

Over the years many people have encouraged me to write a book, especially on my teaching about comparing worldviews. I finally did it with a lot of help from my friends. A friend in Canada has helped and pushed me through this. The book is now a completed manuscript being proofread for typos and punctuation. Then we need to deal with cover, illustrations, etc. I hope the book will be available in a couple of months or less. It will be called "3 Theories of Everything", be about 100 pages, have a long Q&A section at the back and no footnotes. We have made it very non-Christian friendly and my prayer is that people will give the book to non-Christians and God will use it to draw people to Himself. Pray for this whole process if you think of it. Thanks. I’ll let you know when it’s out.

May the Lord bless and keep you and lead you forward in your lives in good ways. We would love to have your news. Thank you very much to those of you who pray for us and support us with encouragement and finances.

Love,

Ellis & Mary Potter

PS. The photo below is of me and a Chinese girl from the Church in Lausanne at her 100 day party, a Southern Chinese tradition. We both had a good time.
